Auro Monster: Foxy by PickleStork Auro Monster: Foxy by PickleStork
*EDIT* greatly reduced the jiggle.  

A long time ago, I animated this little monster from our upcoming game, Auro. Her name is Foxy, and she was always intended to be like a retro sort of sassy sexy lady. In the original animation, she had a really pronounced "boob jiggle." The original reasoning for this was that the sprite is very small, and having a lot of "secondary movement"(flowing capes, falling hair, etc) gives an animation more movement and life. The jiggle was accentuated to make the animation livelier.

But as the years went on, there were a few instances where people made uncomfortable mention of the jiggle. I began to realize that it was coming off as yet another instance of the phenomenon of female characters in games being tarted up hypersexualized bimbos. Our game is anything but that. It's a cutesy-themed tactics game. And like I said, my initial intention had nothing to do with "sexifying" this disney-esque cartoon lady. However, as we approach release, I think it's important to consider how we may come across. I think things like boob jiggling is a pretty loaded thing in the industry. Lots of baggage that immediately digs up a lot of bad associations.

For the record, I don't think there is anything wrong with depicting sexuality or even "Sexy" things in video games(or any media). The thing is, *I* don't find this clownish caricature of feminine beauty we see all the time in the industry sexy, so the last thing I would want to do would be to propagate it, even unintentionally. Hell, even if I were to depict something downright pornographic, I would want to make sure it's the kind of thing I personally endorse and genuinely find sexy, if that's what I was trying to do.

But I digress. Here is a revised foxy animation without the crazy jiggle. Fear not. Her overabundance of sass was left 100% intact.

I agree with keith, there's some serious sprite going on. I love the movement. Bouncing breasts were a nice addition
